2009 Les Fontanilles, Minervois, Domaine Anne Gros & Jean-Paul Tollot
A blend of Syrah, Carignan, Cinsault and Grenache, this shows profound dark berry fruit and a touch of wood smoke on the nose. The tannins on the palate are fine and ripe, balanced by a rich, ripe core of hedgerow fruit and a lovely freshness on the finish. There is a certain poise and elegance to this that bespeaks its Burgundian heritage. Very good indeed.
