2015 Condrieu DePoncins, François Villard

2015 Condrieu DePoncins, François Villard

François’ most impressive Condrieu, this has a notably botrytis character, with dried apricot, excellent acidity, ginger spice and a lick of (expensive) oak. A Viognier that will last much longer than most, that’s not to say it’s not already stunning upon tasting from the barrel in 2016.

Tasting notes

Matured for 11 months in oak, 35% new. Rich peach and some fresh herbs. Full in body, silky in texture, but has a vitality and freshness that is found in all of Villard’s Condrieus. Long, bright finish - really vivid and lively for what is in general a very rich vintage.
