2004 Cairanne Blanc Haut-Coustias, Domaine de l'Oratoire St-Martin
Comprising 50% Marsanne, 40% Roussanne and 10% Viognier, this reveals fresh peach fruit on the nose. Hinting towards the exotic, there are notes of lemon and discreet white flower nuances. The palate shows a pleasing sense of texture; an elegant expression, with notes of almond and white peach fruit and a lemony dart to the acidity. Finely tuned and lingering with an almost chalky mineral sense to the finish. A lovely, characterful example of white rhône that will evolve over the next four to five years, if given the chance!
