2015 Saint-Joseph Les Grisières, André Perret

2015 Saint-Joseph Les Grisières, André Perret

Made from 50 and 70 year old vines, the Grisières shows how talented André is as a winemaker. This is elegant and floral, with intense fruit and a ripe, fresh texture. Long, serious and intense, with wonderful finesse, we wish there was more.

Tasting notes

While Perret is most widely known for his Condrieu, he makes a duo of beautiful St Joseph reds, and these latest 2015s are the greatest wines I’ve tasted from him. Even bigger, richer and more concentrated, the inky purple/blue-tinged 2015 Saint Joseph les Grisieres is the top wine of the estate and is raised in barrel. Blackberries, blueberries, pepper, earth and a liqueur of rocks-like quality all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, pure, gorgeously layered beauty. It has lots of tannins, but they’re polished and sweet. Don’t miss a chance to latch onto a few bottles.
