"Probably a step back from the 2012, the inky colored 2013 St Joseph Ste Epine is still a rock-star Saint Joseph that’s well worth your time and money. Giving up lots of crème de cassis, licorice, vanilla bean and grilled meats, it’s medium to full-bodied, concentrated and structured. It still has some tannin to integrate, so short-term cellaring is advised." Jeb Dunnock, The Wine Advocate(91-93), Jeb Dunnock, The Wine Advocate(90-92), Josh Raynolds, VinousMedia

With an impressive female winemaker, Claire Darnaud, at the helm since 2010 (though with experience there dating back to 1996), and considerable investment in the cellar to move to the historic town centre, the wines here are some of the more refined in the region. Careful never to use more than 40% new oak, Claire is a master of her craft.
