2011 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Les Gallimardes, Domaine Giraud

2011 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Les Gallimardes, Domaine Giraud

This serious and much sought-after cuvée comes from 100 year old vines, 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah. The fantastically heady and alluring perfume of lavender, violet and juniper berries has an incredible intensity. On the palate, this is deep and concentrated with rich dark blackberries and morello cherry, wrapped up in layers of chocolate notes and given a slight savoury edge. Perfectly balanced and eminently elegant.
