Astonishing power and finesse. The nose is vibrant and rich, expressing blackberries, smoke, herbs, leather and black olives. On the palate, the wine is full and firm with a brilliant, tight tannic struc¬ture and great intensity of fruit. With an impressive female winemaker, Claire Darnaud, at the helm since 2010 (though with experience there dating back to 1996), and considerable investment in the cellar to move to the historic town centre, the wines here are some of the more refined in the region. Careful never to use more than 40% new oak, Claire is a master of her craft.
