The only disappointing thing about this wine is the volume - Font de Tonin represents just 10% of overall production. The fruit seems deeper in nature than the Domaine's traditional cuvée, with a creamy accent on account of the greater proportion of new oak employed (18%). There is a blueberry quality on the palate, ripe, juicy and expressive, with creamy swirls of loganberry too. Garrigue characters come through, with a hint of lavender even. Vibrant, layered and intense, there is a scented lift to fruit throughout and impressive freshness. Superb Gigondas.
