2007 Cairanne, Haut-Coustias, Domaine de L'Oratoire St-Martin
A cuvée that is released later, on account of the fact that it contains 60% of old vine Mourvedre, which sees 24 months in old oak foudre, allowing it to mellow and round. Dense and opaque in the glass, the nose suggests blackfruit, cassis, with an almost tapenade-like touch. The palate is equally striking, with seamless succulent fruit. Fine-tuned and silky in its expression, there are notes of aromatics herbs here and discreet spice. A wine that is hard to resist. Great value.
