2001 Rasteau Cuvée Confiance, Domaine la Soumade
Mellow in appearance with good density holding to the rim. The wine offers aromas of deep ripe berry fruit, with beef stock-like savoury notes too. Restraint is evident on the palate with a pleasing sense of freshness and old vine intensity. Almost tarry, deep knit fruit - spicy and full yet with surprising elegance. A terrific example of Rasteau from a leading domaine.
