2019 Meursault-Charmes 1er Cru, Comtes Lafon

2019 Meursault-Charmes 1er Cru, Comtes Lafon

There is so much fruit on the nose: apricots, nectarines, tangerines, with a twist of almond and orange blossom. It has incredible energy on the palate, and superb concentration, thanks to the old vines (some up to 95 years old). The vineyard is just next to Puligny-Montrachet’s 1er Cru Les Combettes, and it shares a little of its neighbour’s nervous tension.

Tasting notes

Bottled in May 2021, the 2019 Meursault Les Charmes 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with white peach, honeysuckle and just a very slight touch of baked bread. The palate is well balanced with a slightly creamy opening, fine acidity, with hints of almond and white chocolate towards the finish. Quite generous, though I am just seeking a little more tension. Closure: Diam 30
