2012 Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru La Genelotte, Domaine Comtesse Bernard de Cherisey

The product of vines planted on deeper clay soils and quite unlike its Puligny cousins, La Genelotte exhibits a very fresh and lifted nose, with notes of aniseed, mint and crushed chalk to bring complexity to the core of citrus fruit. On the palate the citrus fruit is accompanied by a very savoury, pithy and saline edge on the finish; this is very complex and should age very well indeed.
