2011 Meursault 1er Cru Blagny, Michel Bouzereau

2011 Meursault 1er Cru Blagny, Michel Bouzereau

The Blagny site is at the highest altitude in the domaine so is always harvested last of all. The soil is much less calcareous and this shows in a poised, bright wine which is very linear. Notes of lime, tart apples and a touch of grapefruit combine with high acidity for a beautifully balanced wine. This is the only cuvée on which Jean-Baptiste uses Allier oak, as the tighter grain suits the style much more than that from Tronçais or Vosges.
