2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru, Gérard Julien et Fils

2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru, Gérard Julien et Fils

Etienne’s parcel is just next to Grands Echezeaux and has produced a magnificent wine in 2019. The fruit is so exuberant and full bodied, with a long, powerful finish of tremendous intensity.

Tasting notes

The 2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from the Les Treux lieu-dit and will undergo 20 months in new oak. The wood dominates the nose at the moment, although there seems to be sufficient black cherry and crushed strawberry fruit behind it. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent, smooth tannins, the new oak nicely integrated. It will require 4–5 years in bottle but I think this could turn out nicely.
