2019 Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Marchand-Tawse

2019 Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Marchand-Tawse

Most of the fruit comes from the Côte de Nuits, with the majority from around Nuits itself. It is a brilliant crimson colour, transparent and bright. The nose has a pretty red fruit and floral aroma, with hints of blueberries and cinnamon spice. The body is particularly supple with soft, sleek tannins. This should drink well from early on. Juicy and easy to drink.

Tasting notes

The 2019 Bourgogne Côte d’Or comes mainly from Premeaux-Pressey and is aged in barrel and foudres with 50% whole bunch. It is very tight on the nose and actually has a little difficulty following on from the expressive Côteaux Bourguignon. The palate is medium-bodied, delivering chunky black fruit laced with a touch of graphite. Plenty of dark fruit toward the peppery finish. This will actually need 12–18 months’ bottle age.
