2016 Mazoyeres-Chambertin Grand Cru, Domaine Taupenot-Merme
Mazoyères is part of the Charmes vineyard, so this could go into Romain’s Charmes. But he bottles them separately, because he thinks the resulting wines are quite different. While Charmes is sleek, this is like a coiled spring, all energy and tension. Really cool and wild, very perfumed. It has more intellect and depth than its brother. Romain prefers this to the 2015.
