2014 Beaune 1er Cru Grèves, Domaine de Montille
Potentially the best vineyard in Beaune, producing long-lived wines of intensity and structure from the site’s reddish soil; this is a particularly terroir-driven example. Darker than the Sizies and more mineral, but with restrained finesse. There are notes of anis and a floral character, with a silky, substantial but yet still fresh palate.
