Lamarche’s Echézeaux is generally one of the most elegant examples from this noble Cru and 2011 is no different. Though the colour is relatively pale, the wine shows serious levels of concentration, with intense notes of wild strawberry, crushed raspberry and oak spice. It manages to have amazing intensity of flavour without the weight and density of, say, Clos de Vougeot. Ethereal, glorious wine making at its very best.
