2011 Volnay 1er Cru Les Taillepieds, Domaine de Montille
Subtle and smoky on the nose, with notes of dark berries. The palate is immediately very fresh and appealing, with finely-integrated, linear tannins providing structure to dark, spicy fruit. Stylistically taut and toned, this is a serious and quite masculine Volnay that will need some time to unwind and open up, but shows its class at this early stage.
