2010 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Craipillot, Humbert Frères

2010 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Craipillot, Humbert Frères

Blended using 40% of whole bunches (Manou first trialled this technique in 2009, with 30% whole bunches and finds it opens up the aromatics of the wine). From 80-year-old vines, the nose is aromatic and striking, an array of dark bramble fruits, violets and lavender. Tasting the wine at this early stage gives a glimpse of what is to come. It is all there with the fruit, the tannin albeit a little dry at the moment, but that will mellow with ageing. Showing a good balance, with a long finish. Excellent, as always.
