2018 Clos des Lunes, 'Lune d'Argent' Grand Vin Blanc Sec

2018 Clos des Lunes, 'Lune d'Argent' Grand Vin Blanc Sec

Bright citrus and orange peel on the nose, with notes of blossom and a hint of wax. The palate is saline and focussed, but not lacking richness, and there’s a finesse to the long and pure finish. Very well balanced, with lovely energy.

Tasting notes

The Lune d'Argent comes from the lieu-dit Cap Lanne in the parish of Sauternes. After fermentation in cement tanks, a portion of the new wine was aged in 25% new French oak barrels. The wine was aged on its lees with regular bâtonnage during the six-month aging regimen. A blend of 70% Sémillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc with 13.5% alcohol, the 2018 Lune d'Argent is scented of fresh grapefruit, lemon zest and lime leaves with touches of chalk dust, white pepper and dill seed. Medium-bodied, crisp and clean in the mouth, it has a lovely pure citrusy nature and chalky finish.

(87—89)/100

Full of bright fruits, this offers clear interest with its sparkling notes of citrus and a rich, textured mid-palate. It's rearing to go and a good early drinker.

Jane Anson, Decanter (April 2019)
(89)/100

Brightness and serenity to this white with lemon rind and pear skin, highlighting the cooked-apple character. Medium to full body, bright acidity and a vivid finish.
