2010 Château Doisy-Daëne, Cru Classé Barsac

2010 Château Doisy-Daëne, Cru Classé Barsac

One of the most impressive wines of the Sauternes tasting, Doisy-Daëne opens with a deceptively delicate, fresh nose of white flowers, almonds and a hint of citrus. On the palate it is surprisingly full-bodied, with a huge, oily texture dominated by lemon-curd and wild honey. The searing acidity does a great job of cutting through all this richness and this wine manages the difficult feat of seamlessly combining power with freshness and elegance: it really shows why Denis Dubourdieu has such a stellar reputation as a winemaking virtuoso.
