1998 is a vintage just coming into its own, with many wines beginning to drink beautifully now. Compared with the restraint of some of the left bank wines from the same vintage, this is quite showy and flamboyant, but that is no criticism. The ripe fruit notes of morello cherry and bramble fruit are to the fore, cocooned in fine oak vanillin notes and super-soft tannins. While concentrated and intense, this has a delicate and very pretty, scented finish.
