2022 Domaine de Cambes, Bordeaux

2022 Domaine de Cambes, Bordeaux

Tasted April 2023. Soft and generous with lots of bramble and woody herbs on the nose, smooth tannins and velvet texture on the palate. There's a subtle smoky note towards the finish.

Tasting notes

The 2022 Domaine De Cambes (80/20 Merlot and Cabernet Franc) is loaded with ripe black cherries, licorice, dried orange, and floral, spicy aromas and flavors. These flow to a medium to full-bodied red with an elegant, silky profile, supple tannins, and outstanding length. Compared to its sibling, the Roc de Cambes, this is always slightly more elegant and finesse-driven.

92—94/100

Offering up aromas of dark berries, berries, espresso roast and toasty oak, the 2022 Domaine de Cambes is medium to full-bodied, layered, fleshy and concentrated, with a sweet core of fruit and a saline finish. It's produced from vines growing on deep, cool clays on the foggy bank of the Gironde and is always more giving than the firmer, more structured Roc de Cambes from higher-altitude clay-limestone soils.

(90—92)/100

The 2022 Domaine de Cambes offers tons of saline, infused energy and tension. Crushed rocks, menthol, white flowers and chalk all run through this nervy, nuanced Bordeaux. Time in the glass brings out lovely inner sweetness and perfume to play off the wine’s mid-weight sense of structure. All the 2022 needs is time. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.
