Domaine de l’Aurage is a relative newcomer to the Bordeaux scene only releasing its first vintage in 2009. Louis and Caroline Mitjavile, siblings whose father owns Tertre-Roteboeuf and Roc des Cambes, purchased the property in 2007 when it was known as Château Cadet. L’Aurage’s limestone and clay soils are reminiscent of St-Emilion, whose border is just a stone's throw away. In total there are around 20 hectares of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, however the Cabernet does not ripen as easily and is slowly being replaced with more Merlot. The hugely talented Louis is both owner and winemaker and his precise winemaking style is going a long way to putting the Côtes de Castillon on the map.
