2019 Château Malartic-Lagravière Rouge, Cru Classé Pessac-Léognan

2019 Château Malartic-Lagravière Rouge, Cru Classé Pessac-Léognan

This is undoubtedly an estate to watch, owned by the Bonnie family since 1997. The wines seem to get better and better: this is suave and sumptuous, yet with the fine grained, matte tannins and smoky finish that you’d expect from great Graves. Outstanding.

Tasting notes

A successful and accomplished vintage at Malartic Lagravière, this is concentrated and upfront in its dark berry fruits, great control from the tannins, and tons of Pessac character and finesse. An estate that has become a serious heavyweight in the appellation, showing here gourmet, saline, precise character. 65% new oak. A yield of 46hl/ha. Harvest September 17 to October 11.

This elegance and beauty of this young wine is really something. Incense, sandalwood, currants and chocolate come through on the nose and palate. It’s full-bodied, very fine-tannined and persistent. Sophisticated. Another 2016?
