Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion winemaker Guillaume Pouthier previously worked with Michel Chapoutier in the Rhône and is now at the vanguard of producers using whole bunch fermentation in Bordeaux. His winemaking philosophy for Le C des Carmes Haut-Brion mirrors that of the Grand Vin. In 2018, a warm and generous vintage, this is beautifully aromatic and fruit-driven. Alongside a black currant and redcurrant fruited core, the tannin, freshness, and tension of the 2018 C des Carmes are beautifully judged. One of the Left Bank’s great values.
