2013 Château Belair-Monange, 1er Grand Cru Classé St-Emilion

2013 Château Belair-Monange, 1er Grand Cru Classé St-Emilion

Recently purchased by the Moueix family (of Pétrus fame), this is certainly a property to watch as it sits on some of the best terroir in St. Emilion, neighbouring Ausone, with vines planted on steep south facing slopes where Merlot ripens to perfection. The nose opens on aromas of sweet-natured summer fruit with rich chocolate and cocoa notes, a full and richly complex palate with sappy red fruit, juicy morello cherries, mouth-filling tannins and subtle toasty oak provide well-proportioned structure.
