2011 Château Ausone, 1er Grand Cru Classé (A) St-Emilion

2011 Château Ausone, 1er Grand Cru Classé (A) St-Emilion

2011 Ausone displays an almost exotic nose, which is incredibly deep and concentrated. The palate shows explosive fruit, with blackcurrant compôte, Asian spice and hints of coffee. The texture is fabulous, with huge volume and satin-like tannins. This is one of the more large-scale 2011s, but is perfectly-judged, with equilibrium between the exotic fruit, refreshing acidity and - all importantly - ripe tannins. An epic wine!
