2006 Château Matras, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
A beautiful nose kicks off proceedings, with just the right level of development of cinnamon, cloves and dried plummy fruit. There's a touch of leather on the palate, which is fresh and very well defined. The tannins remain juicy, and there's a weight and gloss to the long finish. This is absolutely stunning right now, and will be delicious over the next couple of years.
