2006 Château Angélus, 1er Grand Cru Classé St-Emilion

2006 Château Angélus, 1er Grand Cru Classé St-Emilion

This is a deep, almost opaque purple in the glass, and really quite showy
on the nose, exuding powerful, rich, dark bramble fruit. It is open and
full, and deliciously enticing. From the nose, one anticipates a
monumental wine on the palate. However, the tannins, although firm,
are fine and ripe, adding structure. The fruit is full, ripe and juicy
suggesting bramble and cassis with a pleasant vein of fresh minerality
running throughout. Fresh on the finish with a plummy, stone-fruit note,
this is really rather charming.
