The 2005 incorporates a healthy proportion of Cabernet Franc, namely35%, as well as 55% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep andintense in the glass, this is near opaque. The nose offers characters ofdamson and cool, ripe blackberry with notes of toasted oak. The palateis appealing, glossy and layered, with a fine mouthcoating quality. Thereis a pleasing volume of expressive fruit here, notes of lush dark stonefruit to the fore, and mineral qualities become apparent to the finish. A classy, surprisingly subtle example.
