2005 Château Haut-Bages-Libéral, Cru Classé Pauillac

2005 Château Haut-Bages-Libéral, Cru Classé Pauillac

The 2005 comprises 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance is Merlot.
Sweet cassis is evident on the nose, and a creamy nuance too. The
palate shows in a vibrant appealing style, fresh, laden with dark fruit,
with a gentle silky touch. Not overly assertive, there is nonetheless a
sense of a taut structure, with well-expressed, almost gravely tannins.
This is a very textural, mid-weight style with plenty of promise and a
most inviting glossy texture. Fine length too, and likely to be a keen
value in the vintage context.
