Black/purple to the rim of the glass - if depth of colour alone is an indication of quality then Pontet Canet is up there with the very best wines of the vintage. The nose is rich and reveals hints of classic pauillac cassis and tobacco. Volume, power and concentration are here in abundance. Pontet Canet gives a little away in sophistication nevertheless this is clearly a very good 2004 and Alfred Tesseron has priced sensibly. Could turn out to be one of the value wines of the vintage.
