2004 Château Montrose, Cru Classé St-Estèphe

2004 Château Montrose, Cru Classé St-Estèphe

Very deep in colour, almost opaque, with toasty, black-cherry fruit held in check on the nose. The palate is bold and mouth-filling with a great sense of dimension. There is a serious volume of wonderfully ripe fruit yet a precision peculiar only to great wines. Layer upon layer of black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, awesome power and refinement in one glass – a very mineral, terroir-driven style. Very fine indeed and an undoubted star of the vintage. A real tour de force.
