This terrific Lafon stood out in the line up, not just in terms of quality but equally because of its impenetrable colour (even alongside many deep, opaque st-estèphes). This has a serious volume on the palate with intense ripe fruit underpinned with beautifully balanced tannins. This is almost atypical. A bold wine, solid and built to last. Tannic, yes, but in a positive sense, well proportioned, strong and assertive. A wine walking on the wild side – an outstanding Lafon-Rochet and likely to prove great value.
