2011 Gala 1, Luigi Bosca, Luján de Cuyo
Nothing short of a winemaking dynasty in Argentina, the Arizu family have been producing wines at this estate since its inception in 1901. With vines at nearly the same age as the estate, the top wines are complex and fresh – owing to the astonishing altitude of no less than 1km. The 2011 80% Malbec blend has wonderful, perfumed fruit – some dates and blueberries as well as red fruit freshness and integrated sweet spice. The palate is proof of the quality; layered and expansive with balancing texture and elegance.
