Monte Bello is a blend of varieties and terroir, consisting predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon supported by small proportions of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The fruit is sourced from three different vineyards covering fifty acres, comprising the upper and lower Monte Bello and the larger Jimsomare vineyard. As a style it concentrates on hedonistic power – the wine always has extraordinary levels of concentration supported by a fresh fruit flavour, and the 2000 is no exception with its composed weight, alluring tannic texture and fine long finish. This is a superb wine which really merits cellarage.
