2009 Estate Chardonnay, Kumeu River, Kumeu

Owned and run by the Brajkovich family, Kumeu River is internationally renowned for producing some of New Zealand’s very best Chardonnays. Although situated in the warmer north, the temperatures are moderated by proximity to the Tasman Sea, allowing ripeness, but retaining freshness. Their estate Chardonnay is charming: brightly appealing on the nose, with notes of orchard fruit and a touch of gunflint. The palate is broad and rounded, the ripe citrus and stone fruit characters given depth and balance by subtle use of oak and a lovely refining acidity. Very attractive Chardonnay.
