2013 Barolo La Pira Vecchie Viti, Roagna

2013 Barolo La Pira Vecchie Viti, Roagna

Pira is the largest plot owned by the Roagna family, but this old vine gem comes from a tiny portion of the surface area. Here, the youngest vines date from 1937, making them 76 years old at the time of the 2013 harvest. This is a near-perfect wine, with notes of orange peel and an almost Pinot-like texture. Long, intense yet weightless, it’s a wine that will last for decades.
