2011 Chardonnay, Isole e Olena, Tuscany
Made by Paolo de Marchi at his beautiful estate tucked away into the folds of the Chianti Classico region in Tuscany. Appealing on the nose, with notes of orchard fruit, soft ripe citrus and gentle burnt cream that draw you into the palate, which unfolds in layers of preserved lemon, buttered toast and smoky minerals. Bright, fresh acidity and a steely backbone runs throughout this wine, providing a frame to the weighty fruit and giving this a sense of effortless balance.
