Immediately very pure on the nose, with floral notes and ripe damson and cherry fruit. Silkily-textured on the palate, with layers of finely expressed tannins and vibrant acidity melding with red fruit characters and hints of oak spice. Underlying the lighter youthful fruit notes are darker almost-balsamic characters, giving this an appealing complexity. It is very long – a gentle ‘crescendo’ – finishing with minerals and woodsmoke.
