2004 Brunello di Montalcino, Camigliano, Tuscany
This is a traditionally made Brunello, yet the colour is deep and opaque. There is a lovely bouquet of black fruits to the fore and a slight floral tone. The palate is concentrated and deep. There is considerable structure, but the depth of fruit masks it with beautifully interwoven spice and plum-fruit characters. The wine is full-bodied and powerful, yet balanced and supple. Camigliano is an extremely good value wine.
