Gentle notes of white flowers and white peach on the nose, the palate shows a more weighty and opulent nature, with white stone fruits and a deliciously spicy hit of white pepper. There is a mouth-watering saline note to the acidity, making this a savoury and appealing wine. The ideal partner with pork (think schnitzels!), veal and meaty shellfish like scallops and lobster.

Weingut F.X. Pichler

Based in Austria’s most prestigious region, the Wachau, F.X. Pichler are one of the world’s foremost producers of Riesling and Grüner Veltliner. Franz Xaver (the eponymous F.X.) inherited the estate in 1971, and was instrumental in the rise to prominence of both his family’s winery and the Wachau. His son Lucas (the fifth generation) now makes the wine, but F.X. is still an active presence in the vineyards.
