2018 Klingenberger Spätburgunder, Fürst, Franconia

2018 Klingenberger Spätburgunder, Fürst, Franconia

This is made from declassified grapes from the Grosses Gewachs vineyards, and shows wonderful poise and purity in 2019. There's a tension that runs across the palate, and an unfurling finish that lasts for minutes. Spectacular.

Tasting notes

From declassified plots of the grand cru and vinified with 50% whole clusters, the 2018 Klingenberg Spätburgunder offers a very intense and perfectly ripe, intense and concentrated dark cherry bouquet. On the palate, this is a tight, fresh, lush and persistently salty Pinot with concentration, grip and mineral tension, remarkable intensity as well as very fine but firm and sustainable tannins. A fantastic wine. Tasted as a sample in January 2020.
