2011 Erdener Prälat Riesling Auslese, Goldkapsel, Dr Loosen, Mosel

Home to some of the best wines in the Mosel, the tiny Erdener Prälat vineyard is both exceptionally warm and close to the river. The fruit from this site is always amongst the ripest and most concentrated, creating complex, powerful wines. The nose here is of honeyed lemon and a hint of toasted brioche. The palate is rich and intoxicating in its heady-flavours, though not its alcohol. Vibrant citrus is melded with warm apricot and candied peel characters, then given life by an extraordinary acidity. Intense, yet deftly made.
