Bollinger's 1995 Grande Année was a notable success; the RD is the same wine but given extended ageing on its lees before disgorging. The aromas reveal toasty, yeasty notes, very pure and lifted. The palate shows terrific mouthfilling breadth, there is the sense of richness that one has come to expect, allied to a soft, luxurious mousse. Racy, mineral nuances come through on the finish. All in all a very fine, pure example of RD.
