2014 Estate Riesling, Hugel
The 2014 Estate Riesling comes from mostly organically farmed parcels, with many inside the famed Schoenenbourg Grand Cru, and the rest bordering it. It gives up notes of lime blossom and sea spray, along with preserved lemons and a hint of thyme. The palate is cool and textured, with explosive citrus fruit and wonderful density on the finish. This is in a different class from its price point. Brilliant.
