2006 Riesling Clos Ste Hune, Trimbach
This exceptional wine comes from the tiny Rosacker vineyard, located in the village of Hunawihr. This parcel of land has been in the Trimbach family for more than 200 years and the vines here are on average 50 years old. Green-gold in hue, the 2006 Clos St Hune still has youth on its side. The nose is vibrantly energetic; lime blossom, pine needle, musk and white pepper oscillate alongside citrus peel and crushed stone notes. On the palate, there is a serious mineral backbone supporting the full-bodied mouth-feel. Yellow plum and greengage, quince, peach and petrol notes all combine to create an absolutely thrilling wine of real character and complexity. This remarkable wine should feature in any serious wine collector’s cellar.
