Julien Barrot has produced no Pure or Fiancee in 2008 and the benefits to the Signature cuvée are clear. Grenache from 100-year-old vines makes up the core, but is supported by more than 15% Mourvedre from 60-year-old vines with the balance shared between Cinsault and Syrah. The nose is of focused mineral intensity. A beautiful purity of profound dark fruit spreads across the palate, with a velvet texture of powerful yet fine tannins, seamlessly integrated even at this stage. Long, intensely mineral and very fine. Another stunning wine from this grower to watch.
